NGO, Trust and Society Registration in Hyderabad

If you want to work for a social, educational, religious or charitable cause, the first step is to set up the right legal entity. Naresh Pokala & Company helps founders, families and community groups in Hyderabad and Telangana register NGOs and complete the tax registrations that follow.

Types of NGO Structures

  • Public Charitable Trust: created through a trust deed registered with the Sub-Registrar. Simple to set up and managed by trustees. Suitable for family foundations and smaller charities.
  • Society: registered under the Telangana Societies Registration Act, 2001, with a governing body and members. Suitable for associations, schools and community organisations.
  • Section 8 Company: a non-profit company registered with the MCA under the Companies Act, 2013. It has the highest credibility with donors, CSR funders and institutions, but more compliance.

We help you compare these options based on your goals, the number of founders, funding plans and compliance you can manage.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people are needed to start a society?
Several members are needed to form a society, while a trust can be formed with fewer trustees. We confirm the current requirement when we plan your registration.

Is registration enough to get tax exemption?
No. An NGO must separately obtain income tax registration to claim exemption on its income, and 80G approval so donors can claim deductions.
